Interim Guidelines
Outlined below are the interim guidelines for return to practice for RMTs in BC.
We have also included details of how these guidelines are being implemented at Bodykneads Massage Therapy Clinic to ensure the safety of the public and staff.

• Self-Assessment for signs of COVID-19 related illness in the patient and therapist.
If you have an appointment please refer to these questions within 24 hours of your scheduled appointment.
If you answer yes to any of these questions DO NOT ATTEND YOUR SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT, call or email the office to reschedule.
1. Do you currently have
any cold or flu like symptoms?
- New or worsening cough
- Shortness of breath
- Sore throat
- Runny nose, sneezing or nasal congestion
- Loss of smell or taste
- Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain
- Chills/fever
2. Have you or any of your close contacts
traveled outside of BC in the last 14 days?
3. Have you had exposure
to a confirmed positive case of COVID-19 in a community setting, during the last 14 days?
This does not include possible exposure in PPE controlled medical settings.
-Therapists will be screened daily with the self-assessment tool.
• Hand hygiene and avoidance of face touching.
-All patients will be required to sanitize their hands upon arrival.
-Patients are reminded to minimize touching their faces and masks.
-Touchless payment is strongly encouraged. Receipts will now be emailed to you, please ensure your personal information with us is updated.
• Physical distancing measures for all non-treatment interactions.
-Clients are to remain in their cars until their appointment time.
-Seating in waiting area is no longer available.
-Floor markings are in place to ensure 2-meter distancing.
-As much as possible, patient arrivals are being staggered by 15 minutes.
-Payment and other administrative interactions are to be completed upon arrival. Any significant questions, concerns or scheduling should be done by phone to avoid congestion at the front desk.
• Enhanced cleaning protocols.
-Full COVID-19 sanitation of all touch points in the clinic.
-Front desk protection shield in place.
-All treatment rooms are thoroughly sanitized in between treatments.
-Each treatment room and reception area is equipped with a newly installed, high grade air purification system.
-We encourage you to use the washroom prior to arriving at our building, as our washroom facilities are not exclusively used by Bodykneads Massage Therapy.
• Appropriate use of personal PPE as decided by individual RMTs and their patient.
-All persons attending the clinic must arrive wearing a mask. If you arrive without one, a mask will be provided for a $2 fee.
-All therapists will be wearing masks.
• Meeting all professional obligations set out by our registration with the College of Massage Therapists of BC.
-You will be required to sign a new consent form at your first visit after reopening. This consent acknowledges while we are following all protocol guidelines and making all reasonable efforts to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, there remains a risk of transmission of the virus in any public environment.
-All Therapists have had one-on-one training on new policies and procedures around COVID-19.
-BC RMTs are regulated health care professionals and as such are governed by strict bylaws and regulations to ensure the safe practice of massage therapy. www.cmtbc.ca
